You know how it goes.  You join a few social networks and before you know it, you’re approving apps left and right.  Social media apps can be very useful and a simple way to get things done.

MyPermissions – Cleaning Up Your Social Media Apps

I added MyPermissions to my collection of nifty tools on the web recently.

MyPermissions is a browser based tool that redirects you to the app permission page of various social media sites. 

Basically it’s a one-stop, one-click shop for each network, taking you exactly where you want to go rather than wading through all the settings.  Enter your email address and you’ll receive a reminder each month to clean up any unused apps on your accounts.

It saves a lot of hair tearing and growling at the screen while you get lost clicking endless links looking for the right settings page.  Especially on Facebook, who seem to take great pleasure in moving things around!

It’s really simple to use.  On the MyPermissions home page, click the big button of the social network you want cleaning up and you’re redirected to the apps settings page.  You may be asked to log in, but your data isn’t stored by My Permissions.

Then decide which apps are no longer needed and remove them.

Yes, it is still a manual removal.  I find it really useful to go to one page to navigate my way to each of the social settings pages.  MyPermissions also offer a service to clean up your social media apps each month for a small fee.  That will save you clicking to remove the lurking apps too.
